What is We Think Digital?

We Think Digital is a collection of short lessons or learning modules that help people think critically and share thoughtfully online. The ready-to-use online modules were developed in collaboration with online safety experts from the region.

What does the program do?

Digital literacy has come a long way. Until a few years ago, it meant helping people learn their way around computers and the internet, and was focused on the skills you needed to get information, get a job or get your business up and running. Today, it needs to consider how people are joining global communities and connecting with people as well as information. We have chosen to work with organizations who have like-minded goals – to create a positive and safe culture on the internet. Through co-creating content and conducting capacity building activities, We Think Digital is designed to help develop the skills we need to create responsible digital citizens – critical thinking, empathy and digital discourse.

Why is Meta doing it?

In a region that has one of the fastest growing internet population, developing skills around digital literacy and digital citizenship is vital to creating a positive and safe culture on the internet. The growing numbers of new internet users in APAC and the amount of time they spend online also means that a wealth of information is easily accessible at our fingertips. While connectivity at this scale is empowering and brings tremendous benefits, it also raises a whole new set of challenges.

Therefore, We Think Digital is designed to build the skills we need to create responsible digital citizens – critical thinking, empathy and digital discourse.
