Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia, abbreviated as PGRI, was established in Surakarta, Central Java on November 25, 1945 after 100 days of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence. PGRI is an association of 3 million teachers, lecturers, education staff both public and private throughout Indonesia. The management of PGRI is spread from national, provincial, district / city, sub-district, village to school levels. PGRI also has educational institutions ranging from pre-school to tertiary levels.
