The People’s Association (PA) is a statutory board established on 1 July 1960 to promote racial harmony and social cohesion, and to act as a bridge between the Government and the people. PA offers a wide range of community programmes to reach out to residents of all backgrounds. Their network includes more than 1,800 grassroots organisations, over 100 Community Clubs, five Community Development Councils, National Community Leadership Institute and Water-Venture.
PA launched the ‘PA Wellness Programme’ in May 2010 and ‘PA Senior Academy’ in February 2015 to encourage more seniors, 50 years old and above, to pursue lifelong learning aspirations and lead an active lifestyle. PA offers various senior-friendly programmes/curriculum to engage them to stay mentally, physically and socially active. PA launched the ‘Seniors for Smart Nation’ programme in March 2016 to prepare seniors to be smart nation ready, to enable their seamless integration into the community, and enhance their quality of life.
Facebook is partnering PA to pilot “We Think Digital” workshops alongside training sessions for the trainers community in March 2019. Visit www.facebook.com/pafrenz or www.pa.gov.sg for more information.
